UUFBR is a self-governing and self-sustaining Fellowship. Our mission to be a fiscally responsible congregation, caring for our members and extending good works and social leadership to the South Florida community. Our Annual Operating Budget is funded through the Pledges of members and friends, fund-raisers like the Sylvia Parker Memorial Concert and the Flea Market, and the contributions of those who share our building – our Sharex Partners.
Pledges
Individual donations make up about 70% of our budget each year. The Annual Budget Drive (ABD) begins in late January. This is the time members and friends are asked to make a pledge of financial support for the next fiscal year (April 1 - March 31). When the ABD is completed, the Board and Finance Committee prepare a budget to present to the congregation. The budget is voted on at a congregational meeting in February or March.
Members often wonder, “How much am I expected to give?” There is no set amount ~ no fixed minimum or maximum. Many members give between 2% and 5% of their income, although some give more and some give less. We ask members and friends to give as much as they are able, keeping in mind the average pledge per household and the different financial circumstances of our members.
Sharex
Pledges alone would not carry us, so we share the expenses of our building with other groups and organizations. Early in our history the Board affirmed that "social action is an essential requisite of a UU church or fellowship". Our building is one “resource allowing us to work on creating beauty, bringing healing, making peace and bending the world toward justice”. Our Current Sharex partners are:

Kol Ami Reconstructionist Congregation

Institute For Learning In Retirement

The Natuional Organization for Women
A Course in Miracles
Women Living Sober AA
The Endowment Fund
We drink from wells we did not dig, find shade under trees we did not plant.
The legacy of those who have preceded us sustains us today. UUFBR has a proud and rich history of giving in support of our religious ideals. The Endowment Fund was founded in 1986 with a gift of $1,000. In the 25 years since it has grown to nearly $600,000. The Fund’s purpose is to provide a vehicle for the administration of gifts and bequests to the Fellowship for long-term development funds and special projects. For more about the Endowment Fund and its programs click here.
The Endowment Committee, elected by the congregation at its annual meeting is charged with the responsibility for oversight of the Endowment Funds. Managing the fund with a view towards protecting the principle while generating income through wise and conservative investment practices, the Endowment Committee uses income generated from our investments to provide grants on a yearly basis..
