Several who took that class were motivated to learn more about the problems Alexander highlighted and to turn study into action. As a result they presented to the community a 3-part film series on problems in the American justice system brought about by mass incarceration of young black men.

To date, the goals of the Healing Justice group are education and advocacy for those who experience injustices. We do outreach activities to both the UUFBR congregation and our community to help create justice that heals, thus our name, Healing Justice.

We continue to be with one another in virtual community at UUFBR. No longer do we meet in person. Now we come together via ZOOM. To see what we can accomplish in our restructured Covid-19 reality. What are we about? Our Mission is to continue to:

Focus on the intersection of racism and other forms of injustice.

Reflect in our mission the interaction of Healing Justice work with the goals of the congregation.

Support individuals and groups (both within UUFBR and in the community) to fulfill goals that support UU Principles

How can we accomplish these aims?

Sponsor Zoom chat rooms after the Sunday worship services to deepen relationships with one another while having one or two rooms focused on justice issues.

Support people to vote in the fall 2020 presidential election.

Help secure access to voting for all eligible voters.

Support UU principles and values through voting.

Support more just and humane immigration practices related to South Florida Detainees.

Continue work with LWV Immigration Committee for South Florida https://www.facebook.com/SUPPORTIMMIGRANTS/

Please join us in our activities. Watch for more information about us in the Unicorn and Chalice Notes.
