“As the Pendulum Swings”

It’s easy to react. Most of us do it without thinking, one moment of tension setting off another, much like a pendulum where one movement automatically creates the next. Our reactions can ripple outward in ways we never intended, shaping conversations, relationships, and community life. The book, Say What You Mean by Oren Jay Sofer, teaches that we don’t have to continue that chain. We can pause. And choose to lean into love and understanding, remembering that we rarely know the full story of what someone else is carrying. And during that pause we come back to ourselves. We remember that while we cannot control what others do, we can always choose how we respond. We stop the ripple and make space for compassion, clarity, and connection.
