We are thrilled to announce that Reverend Edith A. Love has joined UUFBR as our new Contract Minister! Rev. Edith, who lives in Memphis, TN with her daughter, will be combining onsite and remote ministry on a ¾-time basis for UUFBR. She is also the quarter-time Pastor for the UU Congregation in Tupelo, Mississippi. Please give her a warm UUFBR welcome – and if you’re interested in helping plan our formal installation and welcome brunch later in February, please let the co-presidents Rajeev and Claire know ASAP. How fortunate are we: with a newly articulated focus on Love as the center of our UU faith, we get to welcome Rev. Edith Love to our Fellowship!

CREATIVITY MATTERS next event Thursday May 15, 7pm!
Bring your own instruments but note we already have some percussion – and a piano. If you’re an artist, feel free to bring your work, and if you have an easel, bring that. Please bring your own art supplies to make more “live” art. I can buy a certain amount of paper, crayons, markers, colored pencils and water colors, but that stuff is costly and I’d like to keep the event free to attend. Please note, no paint that could stain the sanctuary floors! , Don’t forget goodies and coffee We can use the kitchen, but someone will have to make (and bring)coffee If you’re an artist, pllease bring your own art supplies to make “live” art as well. Please note, no paint that could stain the sanctuary floors! If you’re an amateur artist, I will have a certain amount of paper, crayons, markers, colored pencils and water colors (donations accepted- that stuff keeps costing more.)
There will be a signup sheet for the open mic Most open mic sets are under 5 minutes, but it depends on how many people are signed up. It’s a truly open mic. Like the poster says, poetry, improv, standup, readings, songs – anything you’d like to share. This is a UUFBR event. Please note our values and principles, listed at the bottom of the poster. Here’s to creating an ever more beloved community.

Healing Justice
Healing Justice Blog[/button] Healing Justice is a small group that works together to counter racism wherever it occurs. We recognize that racism is complex and exists at all levels, from individual to societal. Action taken recently includes education for our own congregation about why we are considering incorporating a proposed 8th Principle. More direct recent action includes supporting UU the Vote as a precursor to upending structural racism in our nation. Healing Justice meets on the 4th Tuesday of each month, except for November 2024, when it will meet on November 19th.
