Religious Education Council – 2023

The Religious Education Council is suspending new activities for the next 12 months until October 2023. We are in a period where we are looking for new leadership and a new vision. Currently, we have very few active children and youth, as well as a smaller membership than when the RE Council was originally established, so the structure of the RE Council envisioned in the Policies may no longer be appropriate for our current Fellowship.
We will continue the following activities:
  • Our Whole Lives youth sexuality education. Point of contact: Ki-Wing Merlin,
  • Sunday Mornings: There is a basket of quiet activities to make the time pass more quickly, and Osias Hall (the room right outside the Sanctuary) serves as our “wiggle room”, with space to stretch restless legs and chairs for those who want to watch the service on the big TV.
  • Teen Room. Room for teens to hang out while adults are doing other things. Point of contact: Louis Merlin,
  • Boca Raton Interfaith Youth Association (BRIYA). An interfaith group of youth working for interreligious understanding and respect (not based at UUFBR). Point of contact: Louis Merlin,
We eagerly welcome your ideas for the future of Religious Education at UUFBR, so long as they are coupled with your willingness also to contribute your time, talent, and treasure to realize these ideas. The committee will monitor the email address looking for people interested in helping to reshape our vision and contribute as new leadership.
We plan to meet again in October of 2023 to reassess the status of visioning and leadership regarding UUFBR’s religious education offerings.
